Join us for our May PMI Memphis Chapter Meeting as we explore All Things Leadership and dive into the critical question: "Why Does Leadership Matter in Memphis?" In a city rich with culture, resilience, and innovation, strong leadership is essential to driving meaningful change across industries. From healthcare and technology to community development and beyond; this session will focus on how effective leadership shapes organizations, strengthens teams, and creates lasting impact within our local community.

Attendees will gain insight into what it truly means to lead with purpose, influence with & without authority, and navigate challenges with confidence in today’s evolving professional landscape. Whether you are an experienced leader or emerging in your career, this discussion will provide practical perspectives you can apply immediately. This session also connects to the broader mission of PMI Memphis which is to develop project leaders who not only deliver results, but also inspire, empower, and elevate those around them. We are honored to welcome Anjelica Hardin Hall, & Brett Lawson, of Leadership Memphis, who will share insights on leadership, community impact, and how we can all show up as leaders to help shape the future of Memphis.

👥Presenter: Anjelica Hardin Hall, Director of Development & Alumni Engagement

Anjelica Hardin Hall is passionate about people. She is a charismatic collaborator with an unwavering commitment to students, families, communities, and diverse leaders. Whether focused on building nonprofit programs, recruiting and selecting dynamic leaders, or providing these leaders with training and development, Anjelica leads with enthusiasm, empathy, and a focus on equity.

Her commitment to equity over her 17 year career has resulted in the successful acquisition of over $10 million in grant funding, the recruitment and training of more than 500 leaders, and the development of over 10 nonprofits that serve their stakeholders with fidelity. Anjelica has served with esteemed organizations such as TNTP, Teach for America, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and has secured funding from prestigious foundations including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Walton Family Foundation and New School Venture Fund.

Anjelica is committed to service and leadership in her community; she is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (Phi Lambda Omega chapter), the Junior League of Memphis, and volunteers with Girls, Inc of Memphis and as a Girl Scouts Troop Leader. She serves on the Teach for America Memphis Regional Advisory Board and as the Education Chair for the Executive Committee of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. She attends Olivet Fellowship Baptist Church where she is a volunteer for the Room In the Inn Ministry. She’s a graduate of Leadership Memphis’ Executive Program (2017), Embark at New Memphis (2014), Nexus Leaders (2015), the Memphis Academy of Civic Engagement (2025), and Leadership Tennessee NEXT XI (2025). Anjelica has been recognized nationally as an Outstanding Alumni and leader in education innovation by Education Pioneers and locally as a 40 Under 40 Urban Executive in 2017.

In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, food & wine, and spending time traveling with friends and family.



👥Presenter: Brett Lawson, Senior Director of Operations

Brett Lawson is a school administration leader with experience at all grade levels as principal, principal leader, and executive director. He is from Jonesboro, AR and has spent the majority of his career educating the children of Memphis, TN. He is a classically trained musician who led schools that have a focus in the fine arts. Brett has an avid interest in data science and has pursued knowledge in python, PowerBI, Docker, PostgreSQL, and many other computer languages and concepts. He is leveraging this knowledge to build systems of data transparency and accountability to move his organization to the next level of performance. He sees AI as a lever for positive change, if it can be managed effectively.

Brett is also an advocate for social justice. Over the years he has promoted many efforts that are aimed at erasing systemic racism and its scars. He recognizes the reality of the long-suffering work that is required to make this possible. 

 At Leadership Memphis, Lawson is responsible for overseeing daily operations and all staff members while managing the organization's financial health. He’s a graduate of Leadership Memphis’ Executive Program (2024).

Brett enjoys fly fishing, wood working, playing his mandolin, and traveling.
