The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) is a credential offered by the Project Management institute (PMI).  PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) is an entry-level certification for project practitioners.  The CAPM® is designed for those with less project experience.  The CAPM® is intended to demonstrate candidates’ understanding of the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of effective project management.  The CAPM® gets you the recognition you deserve, the credibility you need.  CAPM® certification is a mark of excellence – in any location, in any industry!

Are you interested in preparing for the CAPM® exam?  Yes, an exam is required to earn the CAPM® certification!!!  BUT…We can get you ready!!!

PMI Authorized CAPM® Exam Prep Course Length: 24 contact hours over 3 days that can be used to satisfy the education requirement to sit for the exam. Boot Camp Session:  Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesdays from 0830 am – 5:00pm (30-minute lunch daily).  The PMI exam fee is not included in the cost of the course.  But that’s not all – you’ll also receive at the conclusion of the course, a readiness assessment exam, application development support, refresher opportunities (typically, up to 30 days after completion of the course. 

This certification is best suited for:

  • Anyone wanting a value-add skill set to maximize job readiness attributes

If you would like to manage larger projects and gain more responsibility or add project management skills into your current role, then the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) is right for you.

The CAPM®® certification offers recognition to practitioners who are starting a career in project management as well as project team members who wish to demonstrate their project management knowledge. This certification denotes that the individual possesses the knowledge in the principles and terminology of “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)”, the standard of project management generally recognized good practices.

Individuals who contribute specialized skills to a project team can benefit from this certification by allowing them to align their work with that of project managers. The knowledge a practitioner gains from earning the CAPM®® certification can be applied to on-the-job experiences which help develop growing levels of competence in the practice of project management. Individuals who carry the CAPM®® designation after their name enjoy a high level of credibility from credential holders, project managers, employers and peers.

The CAPM®® Exam Preparation course is suitable for managers and project team members, students at the graduate or undergraduate level, high school level, and/or entry level practitioners, as well as anyone who has an expressed interest in project management as a career or wants to improve their effectiveness in a project management environment.

PMI Memphis TN Chapter is a Memphis, TN entity chartered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and separately incorporated as a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation organized under the laws of Tennessee and incorporated as a 501c(6) organization.

Description of the CAPM® Certification

The Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM®) is a globally recognized credential that opens the door to opportunities at every stage of your career in the field of project management.  The CAPM® certification is an essential first step in building a career as a project manager. It can also aid you in pursuing the gold standard PMI certification, the Project Management Professional (PMP).

The CAPM® certification is evolving to ensure it reflects market expectations and will better support you in your career journeyIt’s an asset that will distinguish you in the job market and enhance your credibility and effectiveness working on — or with — project teams.  The CAPM® program integrates content across the project management discipline including business analysis & agile principles which allows the CAPM® program to distinguish itself by exposing the learner to the technical aspects as well as to the business savvy awareness needed to define yourself as a value-add asset.

CAPM® Certification Training Objective

  • Passing the CAPM® exam requires effort, and this CAPM® Training Course gives you the knowledge needed to successfully pass the exam and show where and how to best focus your efforts in preparing for the CPAM exam.
  • Our CAPM® training course has been designed for the sole purpose of preparing students to pass the CAPM® certification exam, your fast track to professional success in the project management field.
  • In addition, you will be able to practice for the CAPM® exam. Our CAPM® practice tests consist of more than 725 CAPM® Exam Sample questions.  The CAPM® practice tests include a range of multiple-choice format questions.  These questions are based on typical questions in the CAPM® examination, you will have unlimited access to these tests.

Learning Outcomes

Our current CAPM® certification readiness program will prepare the student for a successful test readiness assessment of 80% or greater by ensuring the following learning outcomes and assessments are achieved:

  • Pre-training readiness to sit for the exam assessment:  Level-set only
  • Post training readiness to sit for the exam assessment:  Ready:  80% success
    • Fundamentals of project management and the role of project managers
    • Project management environment, and project integration management
    • Project scope, schedule, cost, quality and resource management.
    • Project procurement, communication, stakeholder and risk management

  • Boot Camp CAPM® Training: $995 (full 3-day session)
  • Exam Fee: $ 225 (PMI member); $ 300 (Non-member) – not included in cost of course

Post-Training Package

This is the Post-Training Package for 30 days after the training to help attendees speed up implementation of concepts from the training.

  • Free follow-up support after the training on phone and email.
  • Opportunity to audit future CAPM® training as Refresher training.

Training Type:  CAPM® Exam Prep – In-Person Instructor Led Classroom Training

Number of students per session:  Our CAPM® Exam Prep class sizes are typically 10 + students per session.  Our CAPM® classes are intentionally kept small in order to foster more interaction between the instructor and students.  We limit classes to a maximum of 20 students unless we are teaching a private group, organization, or special offers classes.

Planned In-Person Course Sessions:

  • 1st Session: Oct 17th – 19th or Oct 24th – 26th
  • 2nd Session: Nov (To be determined)
  • 3rd Session: Dec (To be determined)

Course Requirements

No dependency or project management software tools required.

CAPM® Certification Eligibility

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or the global equivalent
  • For high school students, we propose to deliver the course in the later half of the year so that we are as close to graduation as possible. We propose to set the curriculum to align with their schedule.  Our standard would be:
    • They graduate in May
    • PMI Memphis offers a refresher/recap/summary prep 2 weeks after graduation (June); and
    • All students must take test within 30 days of high school graduation
  • 1,500 hours of work on a project team OR 23 contact hours of project management education

The Memphis, Tennessee Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) was chartered in March of 1999 as a part of Region 14.  Region 14 consists of 19,852 members in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Jamaica, and Trinidad/Tobago.  There are 24 chapters, ranging in size from 120 (Savannah and Columbus, GA Chapters) to 4864 (Atlanta Chapter).  Since the original charter date, the chapter has rapidly grown to a membership of over 500.
