Larissa Redmond Thompson, Founder and Executive Director of the Collegiate Life Investment Foundation (CLIF).Topic: The Dangers of Distracted Driving
Larissa Redmond Thompson is the Founder and Executive Director of the Collegiate Life Investment Foundation (CLIF). She is a proud graduate of Christian Brothers University (Memphis, TN), where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature. Thompson graduated from John Marshall Law School (Atlanta, GA) in 2015 with a Juris Doctorate; as well as completed her studies at Capella University with a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a focus on Non-Profit Leadership. Mrs. Thompson currently works for a Memphis Medical District Collaborative (MMDC) as a Program Associate, where she works tirelessly to implement new programs in public spaces, safety and security, and property development in the Memphis Medical District.
She regularly travels state-wide to deliver speeches and seminars about the dangers of distracted driving, and serves as a Traffic Educator Consultant in the City of Collierville (Tenn). She started the organization as a law school student with goal of returning to her home city, Memphis, to make a positive impact on Memphis and she has reached her goal with precision. Her work was recognized by Tennessee Department of Transportation and Homeland Security, and Governors Highway Safety Office when she was selected to be a recipient of the Directors Award at the 2016 statewide safety conference. Over the years Larissa has been highlighted by several prominent companies including serving as a guest blogger for UHAUL’s Moving Insider Blog, she was named an Advocate for Change by AT&T, and was the selected speaker for the 2015 Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office “Thumbs Down to Texting While Driving” Campaign. Recently, Larissa was chosen as a 2017 Top 20 under 30 recipient for the Memphis Flyer magazine, for her efforts throughout the Mid-South. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporate, Junior League of Memphis, and a host of other professional organizations across the country.
Thompson continues to educate high school and college students across the state of Tennessee on the dangers of distracted driving through the foundations C.A.R.E.S. (Children Advocates for Road Education & Safety) Program, which serves as a peer-to-peer awareness and educational program for teen driver safety. Larissa is married to Mr. James C. Thompson and the mother of a 9-month-old, Shelby.
The mission of Collegiate Life Investment Foundation (CLIF) is to serve as the premier vehicle to inform drivers across the state of Tennessee about the dangers of distracted driving, and to educate college-aged students and those matriculated into college, preventative ways to avoid its negligence.

PMI Memphis, TN Chapter’s PMP Exam Prep Course provides practicing project managers with focused, effective guidance for mastering the PMBOK6 curriculum and obtaining PMP or CAPM Certifications. Each instructor is a PMP-certified, practicing project manager with significant experience in applying core concepts to large scale and high risk projects.
The Exam Prep Course should not be viewed as an introduction to project management. Its sole purpose is to familiarize practicing project managers with core PM concepts and processes, optimizing exam preparation by providing multi-format coverage of both PMBOK and non-PMBOK material. Students also have the opportunity to network and to create study/support groups. The 24 hour course runs from 5:30 to 9:30 pm for eight evenings and includes classes covering the PMBOK knowledge areas and the Professional Responsibility curriculum. Seating is limited to the first 20 applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. The course includes all course materials.
There are no formal requirements for attendance, but it can be helpful for participants to read the PMBOK (version 6) before attending the course. It is also a good idea to verify eligibility to take the exam by reviewing the application process on www.pmi.org. At minimum, prospective students should review the application guidelines before making a significant investment in exam preparation. Please know that 3 years of project management experience is required to apply for the exam.
Another eligibility requirement for the PMP Certification Exam is documented completion of 35 hours of project management course work. Students who complete our Exam Prep Course will receive documentation for 24 hours of course work. The student materials will give you online access and test banks to get the remaining 11 hours.
Each student receives a kit of amazing prep materials written by Andy Crowe and published through Velociteach. We believe these materials, when used for all they have to offer, will more than adequately prepare any project manager to pass the PMP or CAPM on the first attempt. Between the textbook and online materials, each student will enjoy well over 1000 unique practice questions. The materials include:
- Textbook covering the most frequently tested content
- Workbook of all the instructor slides
- Access codes for a phone app for flash cards
- Access codes for conversations between Andy Crowe and others (aids in understanding and retention of concepts)
- License keys for 3 months access to video training content, study aids, a 500-question test bank, and three (3) 200-question test simulations
