Topic: PART 2 - Using Lean Six Sigma Tools to Improve Project Outcomes (Deep Dive)
In the March 10, 2021, PMI Memphis Chapter Meeting, Tawana Gardner will take a deep dive into "TIME TO STOP". This is a more focused discussion on Using Lean Six Sigma Tools to Improve Project Outcomes, considered Part 2 od the February 10 meeting. Tawana Gardner will take an in depth look at specific wastes, challenge viewpoints, and discuss remedies. Project managers are encouraged to bring their case examples of wastes on their projects that can be improved.
About Tawana Gardner
Tawana Gardner is a Six Sigma Black Belt with a focus on improving processes, ensuring quality, and creating a productive team environment. She began her career as an Industrial Engineer at Aerospace Testing Alliance as a contractor with the Department of Defense in the Operations and Maintenance Department. Shortly after earning both a Lean certification and a Six Sigma Black Belt certification, she implemented many successful continuous improvement projects.
Ms. Gardner eventually accepted a new opportunity as a project manager implementing capital projects in the Space and Missiles department. There she spent four years before moving on to further her career in manufacturing ultimately landing an opportunity as a consultant. In this assignment she implemented a proven management operating system, many continuous improvement initiatives, and training in management and continuous improvement before moving on to Bic Graphic. Here she led, designed, and implemented many continuous improvement projects before moving on to accept a position as a Six Sigma Black Belt at ALSAC/St. Jude, which is a non-profit organization that raises money to help provide care for children with cancer.
Ms. Gardner has published articles and led numerous trainings in project management and continuous improvement. She is currently serving as principal consultant at AIM for Change, LLC. AIM mentors and develops continuous improvement practitioners in order to empower them to manage projects in their respective facilities by giving them the tools that they need in order to work projects confidently and independently using a systematic and repeatable approach.
