Career Outlook in 2020 Post COVID-19 World (and PMI Chapter Annual General Meeting)
Given the backdrop of the twin pandemics, a panel of industry professionals and/or employers will offer their employment insights in the Now Economy and career advice to audience members during an interactive session. Invite your colleagues and/or senior college students to register for the meeting for the Panel discussion.
This meeting will also have a short segment for the Annual General Meeting for the chapter prior to the panel. PMI Memphis Members will be given a chance to vote for 2021 Board Members.

Maria Hubbard Presents: Gender Imbalance: Myths that keep women out and down
Maria Hubgard reviewed her research in gender imbalance. She explored references from the PMI Pulse of the Profession reports highlighting specific challenges to women in project management. She also led discussions regarding remedies people can use to add equity in the workplace.
About Maria Hubbard
Maria’s career successes are mapped in 20+ years of professional experience in manufacturing, industrial, non-profit, consumer services, gaming/hospitality, retail, banking, and transportation and distribution. She specializes in human resource development, organizational effectiveness, employee performance management, organization culture development, leadership training and development, succession planning, and executive coaching. Maria is also fluent (oral and written) in the Spanish language having spent significant time in Central and South America since childhood.
In addition to innovative curriculum design and development, Maria is an expert facilitator with certifications in Professional Coaching (LHH), Executive Presence (Bates), Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (CPP), Franklin-Covey programs, DDI programs, and Emotional Intelligence (MHS). Her work experience spectrum includes both people leader and individual contributor roles at International Paper, ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ServiceMaster Corporate, Intechra (Arrow), Harrah’s Entertainment, AutoZone, Union Planters Bank, and FedEx Express. Accolades include IP Strategic Driver Award (2020), SHRM-Memphis Keynote Speaker (2019), ALSAC Innovation Award (2017), AutoZone Extra Miler Award (2002), Univ of Memphis Leadership Award (2001), FedEx HRD Excellence Award (1999), FedEx Star (1994). Maria contributed a chapter to the book, Educational Technology Beyond Content: A new focus for learning (Springer 2019), and her award-winning dissertation on women developing as leaders was published by ProQuest (2020).
Maria holds a Doctorate in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership, a Master’s degree in Instructional Design & Technology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Fine Arts, all from the University of Memphis. Maria is a native of New Orleans and has lived in Memphis since 1982. Her passion for social justice has led her to board membership and leadership for civic organizations dedicated to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
