Speaker Information

Petit May 9th Dinner Meeting
Crescent Club, 6pm - 7:45pm

On May 9th, PMI Memphis will host guest speaker Mr. Dan Petit will speak on the topic of "Driving DevOps Adoption with Telemetry"

Topic Description:

Driving DevOps Adoption with Telemetry

This discussion describes ways of measuring and driving DevOps adoption at a team level by leveraging key behavior-driving metrics.

DevOps is a cultural change designed to help software teams become more efficient by making them more self-sufficient. To change culture, we must change the behaviors of the teams, and this is easier said than done. Luckily, the extensive automation of builds, tests, deployments, and monitoring afforded by DevOps pipelines provides the framework for measuring team behaviors in ways that were not practical even a few years ago. Are your teams exhibiting the kind of day-to-day behaviors that will make them more efficient in this new DevOps-enabled world? To find out, join Dan Petit, Director of DevOps for ServiceMaster, for a deep dive into driving DevOps adoption and cultural change through telemetry.

About the Speaker:

Dan Petit has been deep in the development world for most of his working life, serving as a developer, consultant, architect, and technical leader for a wide-variety of companies in the aerospace, telecommunications, insurance, hospitality, logistics, and service industries. Dan is the director of development operations at ServiceMaster, the leading provider of essential residential and commercial services. Dan and his team have been responsible for ServiceMaster’s DevOps practice and transformation, reducing cycle time of application changes from weeks to hours across dozens of agile development teams. Professional Development

What have we been doing?

This month, we completed arrangements with Velociteach, our 3rd party education partner to bring two reasonably priced boot camps to people in the Memphis area. Plan to share this exciting news with anyone who is interested in Agile or Risk Management. Here is what PMI shares about these certifications:

Our first PMBOK6 Prep Class for PMP/CAPM is Open for Registration

The registration event has now been set up for our first iteration of PMBOK6 PMP prep. Did you know that you can also take this prep class if you are planning to sit for the CAPM exam? Both the PMP and CAPM come primarily from the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK). The CAPM is targeted to the person who has project management education but does not yet have project leadership experience. Remember that a project is any initiative that has a start, a finish, and delivers some result, whether tangible or intangible. Even personal projects, like leading a home relocation or planning a wedding, counts as project leadership experience.

  • PMP exam changes effective 26 March 2018. The new PMBOK6 is already available for free download to paid members. Check out these PMP reference materials provided by PMI, and download your copy of PMBOK6.
  • CAPM exam changes after 21 May 2018. This exam also is closely related to PMBOK6 but focuses on fewer sections of the text. See these CAPM reference materials for information about the changes.
